Do you have any idea how thrilled I am that I made three different Substack publications?
I know, I know. “Just use Sections. Don’t compete with yourself.” That advice is sound for a lot of people. Probably most people.
But my sections would need drop-downs for their drop-downs. Why? Because I am a multipotentialite in all my areas of multipotentiality.
Multipotentialite:
Emilie Wapnick’s awesomesauce term for “Renaissance Man” or “jack of all trades” but…like…describes what I do way better. I’ll show you in a sec.👇
This afternoon I’ve been going through six years—
Six.
Yeeeeeears…
Of puking out Ye Olde Blog, to make sure that I have all the video links I used so I don’t have to hunt-and-peck from scratch when I migrate stuff to Substack. The formatting didn’t always take for links when I copy-pasted the posts into my backup files. Now I have them. But sheeeeesh.
Some of my topics required a break and a massive palate cleanser when I finished a series, especially the heavy stuff that will go into the NSFW Bella & the Beast publication. Sometimes the series were so intense that I required a break in the middle of them. (NSFW: yet another reason for divvying up my writing.)
It will be so nice to no longer interrupt the flow of the post order—and the flavor of the publication itself—when I need to tra-la-la over here in the artsy-fartsy toolie bushes, writing about pretty-pretty dance or yummy art and nature for awhile. I can just let the heavy topics bake, toss up some palate cleansers onto Notes, and rejuvenate myself over here on Tinkerings with my mountain hikes or setting up a new meditation altar or nerding out about the She-ro’s Journey or whatever I’m creating on any given day.
Yet for my memoir bingers, the series posts will still be delivered in order, on the topic they came for. The same will be true for my other kind of readers looking for all this innovation & creative process stuff—you won’t have to cover your eyes and ears, avoiding posts about dain bramage or damsels learning to become dangerous (and falling flat on their faces) if that’s not what you’re into.
You can just subscribe to Tinkerings and ignore that whole Lair over yonder where There Be Beasties.
So can anybody who digs my fiction but they really don’t dig ME. Or they do, but they’re not into all this dance, elements, and creativity stuff. They just want the guts, spit and steam, yo!
Ahhhhhhh…
So much more efficient, neat, and tidy.
However, converging all three publications under one profile identity? That was absolutely the right choice!
Yes, even though it means that all this Dancing the Elements stuff is not under my dance name, Isidora Hart, which is how my old crowd knows me. But I’ve never wanted to write under my dance name—especially not my fiction—and I just don’t like the way a combo name looks and especially feels on posts, comments, or Notes.
Alexx “Isidora” Hart
Alexx Hart (Isidora)
Alexx Hart (a.k.a. Isidora)
Blah.
It’s probably because, to me, the Alexxness and the Izzytude are very different aspects of my personality. That’s why I had originally created Tinkering of an Elemental Alchemist under a separate Isidora profile. But that got to be terribly onerous with constant sign-ins/outs and commenting or subscribing from the wrong ID.
Gah!
I dunno…maybe if enough of my old peeps follow me over here, they might have an opinion about how having both Alexx and Isidora in the same profile name would look the coolest.
But very few people even migrated with the dance rebrand I had to do eight years ago after The Year of Seizures and the second car wreck, so we’ll see how many tag along for this Substack adventure.
In the meanwhile, I LOVE having one profile ID as much as I LOVE having multiple publications. Segregating the two primary—and highly contrasting—topics my old blog chronically pinged and ponged between, once I figured out my rhythm? And then keeping those two separate from my fantasy fiction I’ve been serializing over on the Speakeasy?
Ohhhhhh, after only an hour of diving back into the mess that my old blog had become, I’m over here heaving sighs of relief. Today’s tinkerings have given me five stars of confirmation:
Multiple Substacks is the way to go for me!
Duh. Multipotentialite. 🤓
When I start monetizing aspects of my subscriptions, I’ll have to figure out how to give bulk discounts to people who want AllTheThings, but there are coupon codes lurking around here somewhere. I’ve seen them. And we’re not remotely to that point yet.
So for now…ohhhhhh what a relief it is!
Oh, you don’t know what a multipotenitalite is? Meet one of my muses who mentored me at a crucial time in the creation of my Elements System when I could NOT just pick one thing to save my life:
So how about it? Do you also have way too many passions and callings for your own good? Do you require as many clones as I do to accomplish all the things you’re burning to do? How do you deal with this conundrum?1

Besides creating multiple Substacks, this is how I deal with the multiple creation-monkeys jockeying (sometimes squabbling) for my driver’s seat:
It Started As a Perfectly Innocent Dance Teaching System...Then It Spawned
…Once upon a time I got overwhelmed. I couldn't maintain all my weekly local dance classes while also touring internationally on TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury), so I had to find a way to bridge the gap between monkey-see-monkey-do basic technique vs. teaching my students the deeper arts of Dance. I'd always done this by delivering a wide variety of choreo…
